How the Course Works

Part-time for three years
The Course usually lasts for three years. You continue your normal job or other commitments during this period, and attend one of the centres one evening a week, six or seven residential weekends each year and three Easter Schools. There are other possible patterns of training.
Thirty weeknight meetings
These are spread over three terms, in one of three centres:
Manchester
Mondays
6.45pm – 9.00pm
at Luther King House
Mirfield
Wednesdays
6.45pm – 9.00pm
at The College of the Resurrection.
York
Mondays
6.45pm – 9.00pm
at York St. John University.
Six or seven residential weekends per year
Classroom 7.00pm Friday – 2.00pm Sunday, in Manchester, Mirfield or other venues throughout the region. The first weekend of the year is normally in mid-September and the final weekend is in late June.
Private Study
The bulk of your time is spent on study at home, reading and working on assignments under the direction of the course tutors: a commitment of about 12 or 15 hours a week is called for. There is a mix of essays, projects and other presentations, some short, others more extended pieces for external examinations.
7 or 8 day Residential each year
This takes place each year at Easter. The longer period provides opportunities for some different types of learning, and for building community.
